When Should I Use Block and Report on Badoo?

Badoo’s Block & Report feature is designed to help protect you, and you should feel empowered to use it any time you feel uncomfortable or unsafe—whether it’s about someone’s behaviour on the app or in person. Reporting someone on Badoo for abusive or disrespectful behaviour is a position we hope you’ll never be in. Equally, we understand that if it happens, you expect a transparent, simple, and safe process that protects your identity. We want our members to be empowered to report anything that feels untoward–even if you’re not sure that it violates guidelines.

You can Block and Report someone in a few ways:

  • If you’ve matched with someone who you want to report, you can find the Block & Report button by clicking on the three dots in the top right corner of the chat screen with a match.
  • If you want to report a specific message within a chat, click the report button below the message
  • If you’ve been sent a lewd image, you can tap the report button to report or block the user
  • If you want to report someone who you haven’t matched with yet, you can tap the three dots on the top right corner of their profile.

What happens when I Block and Report someone on Badoo?

When you submit a Block & Report, the person you’ve reported won’t be able to message you. A member of our support team will review the report and take action based on Badoo’s community guidelines, which can include a warning or banning them from the app. No matter what, Badoo will not tell the person who you reported that you reported them.

In more critical cases, we’ll get back to you to provide advice and support. If we need more information from you, we’ll send you an email. We respect everyone’s privacy, so we can’t always reveal the results of a report. But if you have questions, reach out to us here and we’ll try to help.

You should also feel empowered to use Block & Report if you ever come across:

Discrimination and identity-based hate

Sexism, racism, fetishization, and any behaviour or content that advocates hatred, incites violence, or promotes harmful stereotypes isn’t acceptable on Badoo. You deserve to be treated with respect and dignity.

Unwelcome comments about your body

Any kind of body shaming is not acceptable on Badoo; we classify this as when someone forces their opinion of a “good body” on you or criticises any of your physical features. Remember that lewd or unwelcome comments about your body can also include those that someone thinks is a compliment but actually make you feel uncomfortable.

Sexual harassment

At Badoo, we define sexual harassment broadly and we encourage members to report any instances of it. This includes sending unwanted sexual comments, questions, and advances; sharing unsolicited images of nudity (i.e. cyberflashing); sharing non-consensual intimate imagery; trying to have virtual sex without consent; and more.

Threatening behaviour

If anyone you match with on Badoo makes threats to your safety, health, or well-being, Badoo will do everything we can to support and protect you.

Fake profiles

When swiping through Badoo, keep an eye out for profiles that only have one photo, or have very staged photos with a model-like person being shown. These can be signs of fake profiles, typically belonging to catfish or romance scammers.

Off-Badoo behaviour

Block & Report isn’t limited to how people act within the Badoo app. If your Badoo match makes you feel unsafe or uncomfortable when you meet up or move the conversation to another platform—or you see a person on the app who you know has been inappropriate or dangerous offline—we want to know about it.

Rude behaviour

Insulting or bullying behaviour from your Badoo match isn’t acceptable. This includes mocking, taunting, sending harassing or excessive messages, as well as having anything offensive on their profile.

Harassment

Even if your Badoo match’s messages could be seen as complimentary, if they make you feel uneasy because of the cadence or number of them, it’s a valid reason to submit a report.

A previous unmatch or ban

Let us know if you see someone on Badoo that you’ve already unmatched with or someone that you know has been blocked from the app. It will be investigated by Badoo’s support team.

When you sign up to Badoo, it doesn’t mean that you’re giving consent to every stage of the dating process or agreeing to being harassed or coerced. If someone’s behaviour or profile makes you feel unsettled while using the app, use Block & Report to keep yourself and others safe.
