A story about a bad date recently went viral, where a woman, Jade Savage, travelled for three hours to meet a man she’d met online, who proceeded to insult her about her appearance when she arrived. Unsurprisingly, she left. 

When she told her friends about her ordeal, one joked that she should set up a GoFundMe page to cover the cost of her travel. She did, and the page has since gone on to raise over £2,000, with many of the donors giving supportive comments, or complaining of similar behaviour they experienced in the past. 

Jade has donated the vast majority of that money to charity, and is surprised by the amount of attention her story has received, being covered in the national press and getting thousands of comments on social media. 

She has tried to see the funny side of what happened, and is pleased that so many people are sharing their experiences. However, she also wants to see a change in our attitudes towards people and dating.
