Despite the fact that online love is becoming more and more prevalent, there’s still a popular belief that nothing serious can come out of dating apps – but what's the truth in this? Is it impossible to find a long-term partner on a dating app?
Not according to Cristina and Antonio, who met on Badoo in 2011 and recently got married.
Fed up with not finding what they were looking for in their respective cities, they both created accounts on the app. Back then on Badoo, members had the option to match, skip, or choose ‘perhaps’. Both Antonio and Cristina clicked on perhaps…
After exchanging a few messages, the couple decided to meet up; Antonio needed a new lamp, so they headed to a local shopping centre. Cristina told us that she was excited and also nervous – and luckily, the date was a success. On the 12th of March, they decided to make their relationship official, and in early 2022, 11 years and two kids later, they set a wedding date.
After hearing about Cristina and Antonio’s story, the Badoo team got down to work to help make the most memorable day of their lives extra special. With nervous excitement, Badoo and the couple began to plan.
The wedding was held on the 12th of March in Rubí, a small town located in Catalonia, in a rural and peaceful spot close to the couple's home.
The production company that Badoo worked with enlisted the help of a songwriter to create a unique, original song for the couple. Taking into account all the details about Cristina and Antonio’s relationship - from their first message to their first date - the songwriter produced a full song in just one week. Now, it was time to find a group to perform "Lo que pudo ser y fue" at the wedding.
Badoo settled on Gospel Factory, one of the best gospel choirs in Spain. The choir was made up of 15 people, including two members who acted out Cristina and Antonio’s love story. Wearing purple robes, the choir’s performance played out in three parts:
- An introduction to the couple’s story, with only the people playing Cristina and Antonio visible
- Surprise! The full gospel choir appears, building up to the crescendo moment
- The big reveal: the actors playing Cristina and Antonio change into bride and groom costumes, backed by the full Gospel Factory choir
By the end of the performance, the entire wedding party and guests were singing along and clapping, and the atmosphere was electric. Cristina and Antonio told Badoo they were grateful for all the gifts they received, but the best one was having the memory of their wedding day forever.
They also gave us a little bit of advice for anyone looking to find love online: “Always be clear of what you want and what you are looking for. Be yourself and be honest, personality is the most important thing.”
Congratulations, Cristina and Antonio!
