don’t believe that 2 sheets of A4 paper will show off your full personality and talents, but we do think the 3D CV will. Below are the 10 golden rules for creating the best possible 3D CV.

1. 20% of employers will check potential employee’s social network pages. If you are in the job market spring clean your profile to remove or hide any inappropriate photos and entries – also untag yourself in any of your friends more unsuitable pics.

2. Don’t create two separate social network profiles for work and friends – employers are just as likely to stumble on your personal one as they are on your ‘professional one’. Use the privacy settings to ensure social messages and photos are not viewed by the world.

3. Your profile page is an extension of your personal brand – what does your page say about you and does it reflect your life as a whole? Employers will judge you on your appearance, language and opinions when they meet you in person – they will make the same judgement about your social network site. Your profile page is a 24 hour interactive billboard for brand YOU – make sure it’s the best possible advert.

4. Don’t just copy and paste your written CV onto your social networking page – think creatively about which elements of your work history can be best enhanced through images, videos and text. A 3D-CV should not follow a rigid structure but provide an accurate snapshot of your life.

5. Think how you can bring to life the ‘other interests’ section that usually sits at the end of a traditional CV. Mention all of your different experiences, from trips around the world to volunteering projects; these will make you stand out from the crowd e.g.

- If you have a passion – let people know. From good food, surfing, cats, fashion, poker and chess through to cooking, knitting, darts to DJ-ing – these all help bring your personality to life.
-Dont forget your hobbies have a deeper meaning. Running a marathon shows dedication and determination.
